Verimi gains planning accuracy and transparency with Aerion

Customer Story
Verimi is an end-to-end provider of digital identity solutions, covering identification, authentication, and digital wallet services. The company delivers complex, often long-running customer projects, including high-profile initiatives such as the Sectoral Identity provider (Sek-IDP) for German Public Health Insurances as well as Ident solutions for Deutsche Bahn.
Initial Situation: Complex projects, limited transparency
Verimi operates a diverse project landscape. Early phases, such as use case identification, are typically delivered on a time-and-material basis, while implementation projects, including identity integrations and wallet solutions, are usually fixed-price and can span several years.
Projects move through multiple stages and teams, starting with sales and regulatory assessment, continuing through solution design and development, and ending in operations. Although Verimi already relied on established best-of-breed tools, the overall view of projects and resources was fragmented.
The Goal: Right People, Right Time, Right Project
Verimi’s primary objective was to establish reliable planning security across projects without introducing additional administrative work for teams. Transparency was essential, but it needed to be achieved without distracting employees from their core development work.
The company wanted to enable project managers to plan resources independently and in real time, reduce recurring coordination meetings, and improve utilization—especially during transitions between project phases. At the same time, management required clear and up-to-date insights into project performance and capacity, ideally without manual data preparation or parallel systems.
Why Aerion
During the evaluation phase, Verimi reviewed several solutions. Ultimately, two factors were decisive in choosing Aerion.
The first was the seamless integration into the existing tool landscape. Aerion was connected to Verimi’s systems within a single day and worked natively with Jira-based time tracking. This eliminated the need for additional tools, manual exports, or complex data synchronization.
The second decisive factor was usability. Aerion’s interface was immediately understandable for both project managers and team members. Time tracking takes place directly in Jira, while resource planning is handled through intuitive drag-and-drop interactions. This combination delivered the required transparency without creating noticeable extra effort for employees—an essential requirement for a development-focused organization.
Impact: Measurable Efficiency and Better Utilization
Since introducing Aerion, Verimi has achieved clear and measurable improvements. Project managers can now plan resources independently and in real time, coordinating with others only when critical thresholds are reached. Compared to the previous setup this has resulted in time savings of approximately 2.5 to 4 hours per project manager per week.
Resource utilization has also improved significantly and Verimi can now plan transitions proactively. Employees are gradually phased into new projects, sometimes with only a few hours per day. This approach increases overall utilization, improves project profitability and creates smoother transitions for teams.
Transparency has improved at both operational and management levels. Aerion provides fast plan-versus-actual comparisons without the need for manual data aggregation. Management gains immediate insights into project performance, while teams benefit from greater clarity around workloads and expectations. This transparency has also led to stronger self-reflection within projects, allowing deviations to be identified earlier and addressed in a targeted and individualized manner. As a result, indirect costs have decreased over time.
"For project planning alone it saves us between 2.5 and 4 hours per project manager every week.”
— Johannes Kirsch, Senior Finance Manager & Controller
Implementation & Onboarding
The technical setup of Aerion was completed within a few hours. Verimi initially launched a proof of concept with around 15 employees. Due to the immediate benefits and strong acceptance, this POC transitioned directly into a company-wide rollout.
A structured onboarding process played a key role in this success. Regular weekly check-in sessions allowed new users to ask questions and learn best practices, while direct access to the Aerion team ensured fast feedback and support. This approach resulted in a smooth transition, a strong organic learning curve, and rapid adoption across the organization.
