After years of working under the name CoffeeCup, we’re making a change: our product will now continue its journey as Aerion. In this post, we want to share why we decided to rebrand, what’s coming next, and how the transition will take place.

Why the change?

When we started CoffeeCup, the goal was simple: build a tool for time tracking, project controlling, and planning. Over time, the product has grown far beyond that.

Today, Aerion is not just about tracking hours — it’s about connecting the entire project lifecycle, from the first opportunity to invoicing. We integrate with systems in sales, HR, delivery, and accounting, with the goal of creating one consistent workflow and reducing manual handovers.

At some point, we realized: the name CoffeeCup no longer represented what the product had become. Aerion feels like the right name for the next chapter.

Where Aerion is heading

We believe that skills should play a bigger role in project planning. That’s why we’re introducing:

  • Skill Management System for teams,

  • Demand Management for projects, and

  • Skill Demand Planning (SDP) for project planning.

This will make it easier to match project demands with the right people, speed up staffing decisions, and improve long-term resource planning.

Using AI where it helps

AI is becoming part of almost every area of work, and Aerion is no exception.

The first step will be AI-generated reporting. Reports can be requested directly through via a client like ChatGPT, powered by a MCP server that connects to our analytics API. Instead of searching through dashboards, you’ll be able to ask for exactly the numbers you need in one prompt.

Improving the user experience

We know that working with outdated interfaces is frustrating — especially if you rely on them daily. While we’ve made many incremental improvements, we’ve decided it’s time for a bigger redesign.

We’re starting with the settings area and our UI components. The goal is a cleaner structure, a consistent design language, and the option to switch between light and dark mode.

What’s on the roadmap

Here’s what we’re working on:

  • 23.09.25: Rebranding of all apps and integrations with the new Aerion logo

  • End of 2025: Complete UI facelift, reworked settings, dark mode, work time sync with HR systems, user skill management and skill filters for project planning

  • Early 2026: MCP access for analytics (as part of Aerion Intelligence), new API docs

  • Mid 2026: New filter engine for all user interfaces with personal & shared filter templates

  • 2026: Skill-Demand-Planning with project demand templates, planning scenarios and much more to come
